In the work flow, beneath research activity - what does “problem based” actually mean? Maybe all research is problem (i.e. question) based?

    Hi Austin,
‘Problem based’ came from Chart 1 developed at the New York workshop. In looking it over, it seems to be one of several ‘types’ of research approaches or purposes for research. These could almost be a sub-set of the initial triggering event. Perhaps, someone from that original discussion group might chime in to provide further context.

Clear workflow. Could add consult existing research to see whats been done as that is one of things you do first. Perhaps instead of “define goal” could be “define research qustions/ goal” since research often sets out to answer a series of questions rather one particular goal. Collaboration/consulation with other disciplines (scientsits / researchers / curators / conservators) could also be added at the top since that would cover interdisciplinary research. In the line of different approaches below research activity maybe instead of “Medium base” it should be “Materials based”; “Object based” seems clear enough instead of “Item level” and “Methods based” also seems adequate.
