as a general remark: do we continue to ask for the strict conditions in which an object supposedly has to be exhibited. research needs to be focussed on that..
Statens Museum for Kunst/KV
Loan out = Loans
Besides loans in connection to an exhibition, we would propose a workflow diagram concerning loans in connection to other activities (verification, conservation, science, etc.). Or, ‘Packing & Transport’ can be used for loan in.
Hi Robert, Are you referring to details that would be included in the documentation item currently called ‘Object Record Folder’ i.e., all of the details about the object including exhibit conditions? Or, perhaps, these details fall within the Conservation Recommendations section (environment). Perhaps, a slight change to the name might help. Something like ‘Display Environment’?
Thanks SMK, we will add verification, conservation, science, and packing and transport to the triggering events. Does ’science’ refer to research?
Where is the Loan In flow chart? (Meaning when a loan comes to us from another institution.)
Preliminary Feasibility Discussion produces a “Facilities Report”, which is a report generated by a borrowing institution about environment, security etc.
“Can Object Handle Loan” should be either part of Preliminary Feasibility Discussion or between Formal Conservation Examination and Conservation Recommendations. Also, if conservator does not approve there should be a “no, exists flow”.
In this institution “Loan Request arrives in Conservation” comes after “Preliminary Approval?”
There should be a box for courrier when there is movement.
“Environmental Monitoring” should be with Interim Condition Reports.
If Interim Condition Report reveals there has been damage, there would be interim treatment and/or movement generated.
Hi MetMuseum,
We did not produce a Loan-In workflow as part of the workshops.
In the “Can the Conditions be Met” step, there are important communications about $$ (e.g., installation costs, courier travel, required treatment). An agreed-upon budget and a contract are resulting deliverables.
