Is there a link here to packaging and transport? - I see exhibitions and the two completely linked.

In preparation for the upcoming meeting on 2-3 November, I have returned and, following consultation with Courtauld Gallery staff and conservators, reckon that this is indeed a top priority in terms of work (and hence workflow?) which is related of course to loans, but also prioritising treatments. For site work, condition report and surveys are key and will influence many other processes (need for Environmental monitoring, analysis, emergency stabilisation, treatment, etc.)

I agree with comments of Jo Padfield; along with word 'trigger' you might consider the word 'protocol' to the first step, since environmental monitoring usually refers to a ongoing regular process. This is not a clear worksflow and it is not clear what is referred to here. Also In many museums you may want to consider that this is mainly carried out by Technical services in collaboration with Conservation. Often outside expertise is involved from the beginning as part of environmental research or testing.

SFMoMA - could you give use a couple of suggestions that would help get us started with that? Is it basically item level survey vs collection - defined as you will, not necessarily a predefined, say, paintings collection? ken

It could be useful to push this work topic so that it encompasses general and item-by-item surveys.

I wonder if the collectionspace team tackled this work flow as well. It might be interesting overlay theirs with ours to arrive at a symmetrical, high-level flow.

In the "Can the Conditions be Met" step, there are important communications about $$ (e.g., installation costs, courier travel, required treatment). An agreed-upon budget and a contract are resulting deliverables.

Petria,

I think that is "No (as in, no, there is no need for a survey or survey of that collection). Leaves process = end of workflow.
